The Northern Neck of Virginia is a scenic and historically significant peninsula nestled between the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers, extending into the Chesapeake Bay. Known as the “birthplace of the nation,” the region is home to the birthplaces of three U.S. presidents—George Washington, James Monroe, and Richard Henry Lee. Rich in colonial and Revolutionary War history, the Northern Neck blends heritage with natural beauty, offering miles of waterfront, charming small towns, and a peaceful, rural atmosphere. The area is popular for boating, fishing, and agritourism, with local wineries, farms, and seafood playing key roles in the local economy. With its relaxed pace of life and deep historical roots, the Northern Neck remains a treasured retreat for both residents and visitors seeking a connection to Virginia’s past and the serenity of its coastal landscapes.
